Dr. Marsha Smith is originally from Ellis, Kansas. She received her Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from the University of Missouri - Kansas City in 2011.
Marsha is married to Justin Smith. She and her husband moved to St. Croix in 2013. Since she began her employment at
Mt. Welcome Pharmacy she played an active role in reopening the pharmacy in Princesse.
Marsha completed APhA's Pharmacy-Based Immunization Certificate Training Program in 2010 and has two years of immunization delivery experience including vaccinations for influenza, pneumonia, and shingles. She also completed the Medication Therapy Management, National Certificate Training Program in 2016. Marsha and her husband, Justin are currently building their permanent home on the island.
Steve Eckstein, a founding pharmacist and the president of Mt. Welcome Pharmacy, graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1985. Steve opened the original Mt. Welcome Pharmacy location in May, 2007. Today Mt. Welcome has two locations, the original location in Christiansted beside Seaside Grocery, and the newest location in Princesse within Doctor Prasad's Medical Clinic.
He is married to his wife, Rebecca and has two grown sons, Adam and Aaron. Steve and his wife own a home on the island.
Steve was local association President of the Year in 2000 with the Virginia Pharmacists Association. He is a past board member of the Virginia Pharmacists Association in Richmond, Virginia. Prior to moving to the VI, he was a board member with the Rotary. He is also a member of the Georgia Pharmacists Association.
He has experience in retail, hospital, long-term care, immunization and IV Admixture therapy.
Joe Cherkis was born and raised in Elmira, New York. He graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy in Albany, NY in 1993. Before moving to the island in August of 2015, Joe worked in North Carolina in retail pharmacy. He also worked in long-term care in New York for 15 years. Joe is certified in immunization therapy and completed his training in 2014.
Joe lives on the island with his wife Angela, and his standard poodle, Luna. Joe is an active outdoorsman who enjoys snorkeling, biking, hiking, running, and tennis. Joe is a member of the Tennis Club of St. Croix, the Virgin Island Triathlon Federation and the Virgin Islands Cycling Federation. Joe also attends Holy Cross Catholic Church in downtown Christiansted.
